Acid rain could return because of car fumes

Date : 23rd June 2010, Source : The Telegraph (UK)

A new form of acid rain, that is caused by car fumes rather than power stations, is threatening forests around the world. In the 1980s emissions from coal-fired power stations caused sulphuric acid to form in the atmosphere and fall as rain, killing forests. The 'acid rain' caused an environmental outcry and power stations were forced to fit desulphurisation equipment on chimneys to stop the problem.
