Mexico Seeks to Break New World Tree Planting Record

Date : 27th August 2008, Source : Mexican Government

On Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August, the National Forestry Commission, with the support of 300 planters in various parts of Durango, will attempt to break the world record by planting 300,000 trees in 24 hours. The planters who will take part in this work are already involved in conservation and restoration work in the state, meaning that planting will be carried out in ideal conditions. The land to be reforested has an area of 179 hectares, which has already been prepared and is already sufficiently moist to ensure that the trees will take root.
