Some good news
|
On 17th September 2008, Norway pledged £500 million to Brazil's international fund to protect the Amazon rainforest. On 26th September,
the Brazilian government pledged to end net deforestation by 2015, by planting more trees than are being felled, restoring native forests
and cracking down further on illegal logging.
The 17th is a special day for Ann Walker, who passed in January 2004, who spent 25 years of her life saving the rainforests and informing the
World leaders of the importance of the rainforests in climate change. For more information, please see Ann's website, www.annwalker-whitearrow.co.uk to
read her amazing biography and to read about her books, with links to purchase them.

For the cost of a postage stamp – We are asking all the people of the Earth to send a letter, email and/or fax (where it is supplied) to tell the
governments that you will no longer ignore Rainforest destruction and that action needs to be taken now to end this catastrophic crime against
the Earth, for the sake of our future.
We have collated a list of 191 countries with the names of their Leaders along with their addresses, and email/fax where applicable. All you need to
do is to send one or two letters, maybe more, maybe to your country to call for an end to this environmental disaster. By clicking on the link below,
you can use the sample letter we have provided (or write your own), read relevant pages from links on our website, and download the list of World Leaders.
Many of you visiting our website have asked what you can do to help - we are now asking all of our visitors, past and present, to use the sample
letter (or write your own), type in a couple of World Leader names & addresses, and then for the cost of a postage stamp, tell them why Rainforest Destruction must end
today! We can do it, we can tell them of the critical part that the rainforests play in the climate system of the Earth and why they must be saved.
Now you can make a difference!

Tell the World Bank to take responsbility for environmental damage
|
|
For years, the World Bank has given aid to projects around the Earth, without regard to environmental protection. Despite changing their environmental policy to a 'greener image', we are calling on them to take responsibility for environmental damage caused by projects funded by themselves.

Warnings predicted 15 years ago
|
The climate can change naturally but Man has in no doubt accelerated and interfered with this natural occurance as the
IPCC stated in their Fourth Assessment Report released in 2007. The cynics have to open their eyes as we all know deep down
inside that something is fundamentally wrong yet we continue to be swayed by the negative few trying to influence the many,
leading to confusion. We are running out of time debating climate change and who's caused what. It is time to act now whether
small changes are made by the individual or larger changes by organisations - changes must be made. But one thing is absolute -
the rainforests must be saved - act now!
This an excerpt from The Report by Ann Walker and White Arrow which was written in 1991 and sent to World Leaders in 1992.
"Europe and England
Presently, the overwhelming influences on Europe’s climate are the Atlantic Ocean, the cold land-mass of Asia and the warm air
mass over the ocean with its warm Gulf stream. The Gulf stream is so effective in elevating temperatures that, mountains apart,
where the Atlantic and Saharan influences coincide in southern Spain, winter temperatures presently can be as high as Florida –
ten degrees of latitude or 700 miles farther south.
England will be an indication of the severity of upcoming changes that Europe will experience, during process. In the year 2012
there will be nationwide crop losses. The temperature, twenty years hence, in England will begin at 120F and constitute the
start of the irreversible stage of temperature increase. Throughout England, at this time, there will be widespread flooding,
together with a phenomenon of frequent large-scale fires that may be likened to the spontaneous fires which occur in
Canada/North America after prolonged arid conditions."
Fifteen years ago, Ann Walker and White Arrow warned us what we should expect if the rainforests were not saved. The year 2012 has changed. Ann said in her
book The Messenger The Messiah that due to continued deforestation and the
shift in the Earth's axis, the process had been brought forward five years to 2007! We cannot be complacent. For the past 10 years,
climate records have been broken whether its the wettest June, the hottest year, the warmest Winter - these are not one-off
occurances. During June/July 2007, the UK has experienced severe thunderstorms and flooding which have hit all parts of England, Wales and
Scotland. Homes have been flooded, transport networks have ground to a halt and crop losses have been reported. On 20th July, over
one month's rain (100mm) fell in one day in Oxfordshire. The Met Office reports the severe storms that have lashed the UK have
been caused by the jetstream that has moved to a lower latitude around the UK which had led to frequent low pressure areas,
leaving us with lots of rain and storms - but no-one explains why these weather patterns have changed! To read more about how
Rainforest deforestation has changed wind patterns, click HERE!
Ann's report has been verified by United Nations as being correct in its predictions - we must do something NOW! It is up to us to push for change - our politicians are not interested or they would
have acted to prevent catastrophes happening to the very people that elect them!
How long before before you become a victim of climate change?
SAVE THE RAINFORESTS AND SO SAVE OURSELVES!
The term 'Global Warming' is a misconception - it is not only going to get warmer, our climate will also get colder,
wetter and more unstable - this is 'Climate Change' !

This year at the La Reserva Forest Foundation’s headquarters and private reserve we have been observing some important changes in the
natural cycles. As I watch I am reminded of the urgency with which we began this indigenous tropical forest regeneration project.
The indigenous plants (orchids, trees, shrubs etc.) are extremely late in their behavior compared with past years, yet the introduced
species (citrus trees and ornamentals) are extremely early in their fruiting and flowering or are dying off. Normally the grapefruits
are falling off the tree in January but this year they have already fallen in August and our beautiful orange tree is almost dead.
The climate change is upon us and we are feeling it all around the world, much faster than the scientists calculated.
We now have our neighbors commitments to participate with 7 hectares of their lands to plant (1000 native seedlings/hectare) and
regenerate native forest along our shared creek, allowing the La Reserva forest to connect with the nearest large primary forest to
the west and expand the LRFF forest, as well.
Soon this will be accomplished through a grant opportunity or from the “THE PEOPLE” who see the urgent importance of this work
as we do and pay us with their generous donations to do it for them. It will all cost only US $21,500.
But in the meantime, everyone, Let’s Get Planting!
